we are led down the hall and into a room on the left.
mom sits my nephew stands. the security guard says
a doctor will come to talk to us. leaving she begins
to close the door. i ask her to let it be

a man walks in the room. the security guard looking
concerned stands just inside the doorway.
the man introduces himself asks our names and
relation to donis after we answer he says
" i'm sorry but donis passed away. i hope that didn't
sound too harsh we tried everything to revive her ".
my nephew is emotionless. mom quietly says " oh no !"

several days later i take mom to the beach.
it is very clear and chilly a pretty woman in
striped leotards and white sweater is skate dancing
in the empty parking lot. several seagulls fight over
a piece of food. we slowly walk the bike path
towards the marina

i am quite envious of my sister because she received
an incredible blessing . she was able to relax and
turn off her mind in the arms of mom who
unconditionally loved her

and dear reader that is a very happy story
